Our Programs
We are best at serving schools as a lead agency for comprehensive after-school programs. We also offer single activities in partnership with other community based organizations and youth-based projects. Ujimaa programs are designed to be extremely hands on, with plenty of exciting experiences that will help youth to develop a deeper appreciation for social, cultural, environmental, athletic and engineering sciences.
Martial Arts
Discipline, kinesthetic intelligence, and spiritual excellence are the goals of Martial Arts! Students will experience a sense of heightened self-awareness and confidence!
Inline skating
While benefiting from immeasurable cardio-vascular activity, children will engineer their own skates, learn key skills, and participate in many skate trips!
Gardening/Nutrition
Our students will harvest the power of photosynthesis. Students will also have greater understanding of essential nutrients and vitamins while making tasty treats!
STEM+
Students will learn the fundamentals of various science-based disciplines (Robotics, Science, Coding, Engineering) with many hands-on projects!
Arts & Crafts
Its all about expression! Students will learn the fundamentals of art and crafts, and develop tasteful pieces for showcasing!
Performing Arts
Youth will explore various arts in theater and overcome stage anxiety developing skills in the arts of Theater, Dance, Poetry, and/or Drumming!
Sports & Team Ethics
Mental and Physical conditioning are a must! Students will learn to practice healthy competition and the fundamentals of team efforts!

Academic Support
Ujimaa offers a range of academic support to our students. Homework support is provided daily within our after-school programs to ensure that students have obtained mastery of delivered concepts. Completion of homework is not guaranteed and we do encourage parents to review assignments with their children once at home. We also employ intervention for Math, Reading, and ELA using internal “Complete Literacy” materials, SIPPS, and more!
BUILD
BUILD is a program that practices Restorative Justice with a non-punitive overtone. The program is set to provide space for children who have expressed difficulty acclimating into the regular or after school day for behavioral or academic purposes.
R.O.P Camp
The Rites of Passage program is designed to ritualistically create strong bond between staff and youth, provide open space to express thought, and test participating students’ ability to focus under pressure. All participants will be encouraged to express themselves freely under a collective confidentiality agreement
Strategic Games
The key function of strategic games is to allow students to learn to control impulse, practice critical thinking, and apply logic strategically. Playing games such as chess, dominoes and more, our students develop a heightened sense of logical thinking under the pressure of friendly competition.
